How Does Group Therapy Work?
Group therapy is a way to gain support from others and give support in return. With the help of the group therapist, group members give each other encouragement, point out troublesome patterns, and offer alternatives allowing them to develop and use new ways of coping and relating. The climate of trust that develops within a group frees members to express themselves more openly and to care about and help each other. Members have an opportunity to develop new or expand existing support systems as well as identify personal strengths and resources.

If you would like to join a group, call 816.224.6500, or click here to set up a one hour initial appointment with Dr. Ochester during which you will explore your concerns and determine if group therapy is right for you.
